Banking/Finance
A few financial names on the list below have become associated with now active financial institutions. As GEM had purchased most of its banking names prior to many bank start-ups even being considered, those institutions determined that they did not need their exact dotcom name to launch. That was their prerogative.
At the same time, they have also been unsuccessful in pursuing any trademark infringement, as they have determined that the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Center would do the "right thing" and not let those institutions pursue something that they did not have legal (or appropriate) rights to. Below are a portion of the banking/financial domains in our portfolio. Most were purchased when a group of local citizens were preparing to name their start-up community bank in the Carolinas. None of these names were eventually used, although many were viable. Some of the names will soon be used by other start-up groups. In addition, other regional/state names were also purchased during that process.
